this thoughtful long island home transformation is driven by both necessity and vision, combining architectural updates with a refined yet eclectic interior. prompted by a basement flood, the redesign focused on enhancing natural light and optimizing the home’s functionality. the kitchen became a central element, with a spacious island providing ample workspace to accommodate the client’s passion for cooking. more windows were installed to brighten the home, while the rear of the house was strategically opened toward the pool, creating a stronger indoor-outdoor connection. in contrast, the enclosed front porch was preserved, maintaining the home’s original charm. inside, mid-century eclectic furnishings add warmth and personality, balancing modern updates with a layered, lived-in aesthetic.
