designed for an empty-nester couple, this renovation transforms a dated historic townhouse into a refined, modern retreat. the kitchen, reimagined to suit the clients’ love of cooking, features a large island with integrated storage and caesarstone counters. removing a deteriorating staircase allowed for expanded workspace and sleek cabinetry in a glossy white finish. a custom floating staircase, crafted from steel and white oak, anchors the parlor floor with its sculptural design and contrasts the dark-stained floors. upstairs, a new hallway connects the primary suite’s bedroom, bathroom, and office. modern tiles and clean lines in the bathroom play into the home’s contemporary update. the design blends mid-century furnishings with historic details, in a range of neutral tones, accented by subtle pops of color.
